Hi there, tudo certinho por aí?
Hoje eu trouxe um texto bem legal para quem está aprendendo inglês e quer melhorar vocabulário, leitura e compreensão auditiva ao mesmo tempo. Trata-se de uma pequena história ambientada em San Diego, com frases simples e naturais, perfeitas para quem está no nível A2 ou começando a dar os primeiros passos no inglês intermediário.
No texto, você vai conhecer Maria e o bairro onde ela mora no centro de San Diego, com descrições do prédio, das ruas ao redor, das cafeterias, dos restaurantes e do movimento típico da cidade. É aquele tipo de vocabulário do dia a dia, que aparece o tempo todo em conversas reais.
E para tornar o estudo muito mais completo, eu preparei o material em três formatos diferentes:
- O texto original em inglês, para você praticar a leitura.
- A tradução em português logo abaixo de cada parágrafo, para facilitar a compreensão.
- Áudio gravado por um locutor nativo, para você treinar também sua listening comprehension (compreensão auditiva).
Minha sugestão é simples: primeiro leia o texto em inglês tentando entender o máximo possível. Depois confira a tradução em português e, por fim, escute o áudio acompanhando o texto. Essa combinação é extremamente poderosa para fixar vocabulário e internalizar estruturas da língua.

MARIA’S APARTMENT BUILDING
O PRÉDIO DE MARIA
Maria’s apartment building is located in downtown San Diego, near the Gaslamp Quarter. Maria is very happy to live there because the neighborhood is convenient and lively.
(O prédio de Maria está localizado no centro de San Diego, perto do Gaslamp Quarter. Maria está muito feliz por morar lá porque o bairro é prático e animado.)
Her building is on a small street near Fifth Avenue. It is not a very modern building, but it is comfortable and pleasant, with large windows and small balconies. Maria lives on the fourth floor in a cozy apartment.
(O prédio dela fica em uma pequena rua perto da Fifth Avenue. Não é um prédio muito moderno, mas é confortável e agradável, com janelas grandes e pequenas varandas. Maria mora no quarto andar em um apartamento aconchegante.)
Across from the building, there is a small coffee shop where Maria often buys coffee and pastries in the morning. Next to the coffee shop, there is a popular restaurant. Many people stop there to eat lunch or meet friends.
(Em frente ao prédio, há uma pequena cafeteria onde Maria costuma comprar café e doces pela manhã. Ao lado da cafeteria, há um restaurante popular. Muitas pessoas param ali para almoçar ou encontrar amigos.)
Near the building, there is also a pharmacy, a bookstore, and a grocery store. Two blocks away, there is a trolley station, which makes it very easy to travel around the city.
(Perto do prédio, também há uma farmácia, uma livraria e um mercado. A duas quadras dali, há uma estação de trolley, o que torna muito fácil se locomover pela cidade.)
On weekends, Maria likes to walk around the neighborhood. For example, she often walks to the San Diego Bay to enjoy the view of the water and the boats. Sometimes she visits the small shops in the Gaslamp Quarter.

There is often a lot of noise on the street. There are cars, buses, and sometimes motorcycles. You can also hear tourists talking and taking pictures. During the day, many people walk along the sidewalks.
(Frequentemente há muito barulho na rua. Há carros, ônibus e às vezes motocicletas. Também é possível ouvir turistas conversando e tirando fotos. Durante o dia, muitas pessoas caminham pelas calçadas.)
In the evening, the neighborhood stays busy. Restaurants are open and the streets are full of people. Many people go out to have dinner or enjoy the nightlife.

However, Maria does not mind the noise. She likes the energy of the city. For her, it is a great and convenient place to live.

Maria often says: “The city can be a little noisy, but I love living in the heart of San Diego.”
