Ontem fiz uma live no YouTube onde trabalhei com um diálogo cheio de expressões idiomáticas e como prometido, aqui está o diálogo junto com o áudio e a tradução. Bons Estudos! Let’s do this!
DIÁLOGO
Jan: Mmm. This coffee is really strong. (Humm. Este café está bem forte.)
Steve: I like it that way. (Eu gosto assim.)
Jan: So do I. All during my last class I was thinking about coming here and could almost taste the coffee. (Eu também. Durante toda a minha última aula, fiquei pensando em vir aqui e quase sentia o gosto do café.)
Steve: Sounds like it wasn’t too exciting. (Parece que não foi muito empolgante.)
Jan: I was bored to death. I’m in that class only because it’s a requirement, so I have to stick it out. The problem is, the professor doesn’t know how to spark our interest. She just walks in and lectures. There’s no discussion. (Eu estava morrendo de tédio. Estou nessa aula só porque é um requisito, então tenho que aguentar. O problema é que a professora não sabe como despertar nosso interesse. Ela só entra e dá aula. Não há discussão.)
Steve: What a drag! Don’t people ask questions? (Que chato! As pessoas não fazem perguntas?)
Jan: Oh, yeah, once in a blue moon. But I always see an awful lot of people doodling, and I can tell their minds are wandering. Do you have any classes like that? (Ah, sim, uma vez na vida e outra na morte. Mas sempre vejo muita gente rabiscando, e dá para perceber que suas mentes estão viajando. Você tem alguma aula assim?)
Steve: I have only one big lecture class—world history—and the professor’s the best. It’s so interesting, I’m always on the edge of my seat. And when we have discussions, the room is filled with electricity. (Eu tenho apenas uma aula grande—história mundial—e o professor é o melhor. É tão interessante que eu fico sempre na ponta da cadeira, prestando muito atenção. E, quando temos discussões, a sala fica cheia de energia.)
Jan: I’m jealous. Too bad I already took world history. (Estou com inveja. Que pena que já fiz história mundial.)
Steve: You know, one day it dawned on me that I was lucky to be in her class because I found myself thinking a lot about what she said. Did you ever have a teacher like that? (Sabe, um dia me dei conta de que tive sorte de estar na aula dela porque me peguei pensando muito no que ela disse. Você já teve um professor assim?)
Jan: I’d have to think about it. I don’t know. (Eu teria que pensar nisso. Não sei.)
Steve: You should come with me to class sometime, just to see what I mean. (Você deveria ir comigo à aula algum dia, só para entender o que quero dizer.)
Jan: Sounds like you’re in love with her, Steve. (Parece que você está apaixonado por ela, Steve.)
Steve: Very funny. She could be my grandmother. Anyway, I guess what it really comes down to is her enthusiasm for the subject. She just loves history. I remember at the beginning of the semester, I was fooling around a lot and not taking anything in school very seriously. I bombed the first history test, but then I buckled down because I started really enjoying school, especially her class. (Muito engraçado. Ela poderia ser minha avó. De qualquer forma, acho que o que realmente importa é o entusiasmo dela pela matéria. Ela simplesmente ama história. Lembro que no começo do semestre, eu estava brincando muito e não levando nada na escola muito a sério. Eu fui muito mal no primeiro teste de história, mas depois comecei a me dedicar porque comecei a gostar de verdade da escola, especialmente da aula dela.)
Jan: You’ve got me really curious about this teacher. I think I’ll take you up on your idea to visit your class. When does it meet? (Você me deixou realmente curioso sobre essa professora. Acho que vou aceitar sua ideia de visitar sua aula. Quando ela acontece?)
