Hi there, tudo certinho por aí?
Are you ready? Let’s do this!
THE THREE LITTLE PIGS
[OS TRÊS PORQUINHOS]
Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who lived together with their mother in a small, cozy cottage at the edge of a forest. One day, the mother pig gathered her three sons and said to them, “My darlings, you have grown up now, and it’s time for each of you to leave home and build your own lives. Go out into the world, build yourselves a solid, sturdy house, and always be careful of the wolf who wanders through these woods!”
The three little pigs said goodbye to their mother and set off together, though each of them soon went his own way to build his own house.
The first little pig was rather lazy and didn’t feel like putting in much effort. As he walked along, he noticed a large pile of straw lying by the roadside, and he thought to himself that it would be the perfect material for building a house—quick, easy, and requiring almost no work at all.
So he gathered the straw, set up a few pieces of wood to form a simple frame, and piled the straw over it. Within just a few minutes, his house was complete. Pleased with himself, the little pig spent the rest of the afternoon lounging about and doing nothing at all
As night fell, the wolf came prowling through the forest and eventually arrived at the straw house. He stood outside the door and called out:
“Little pig, little pig, let me in!”
“Porquinho, porquinho, deixe-me entrar!”
“No,” replied the little pig firmly.
“Não”, respondeu o porquinho com firmeza.
“If you don’t let me in, I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!”
“I won’t let you in,” the little pig answered again, feeling confident behind his flimsy walls.
So the wolf drew in an enormous breath and blew with all his might. The straw house didn’t stand a chance—it collapsed instantly and was scattered across the ground. The wolf strolled in and ate the little pig without any difficulty.
The second little pig wasn’t much more industrious than his brother. While walking through the countryside, he came across a farmer carrying a bundle of twigs and sticks, and he decided to buy them on the spot.
“These will do nicely for my house,” he thought, and he set about fitting the little branches together to form a small wooden shed. Like his brother, he didn’t want to waste too much time or energy on the project, so once the shed was standing, he considered his work finished and spent the rest of the day relaxing in the sun.
As the sun began to set, the wolf appeared once more, making his way to the second pig’s shed. He stood before the door and said:
“Little pig, little pig, let me in!”
“Porquinho, porquinho, deixe-me entrar!”
“No,” said the little pig, trying to sound brave.
“Não”, disse o porquinho, tentando parecer corajoso.
“If you don’t let me in, I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!”
“I shall not let you in,” the little pig insisted.
“Eu não vou deixar você entrar”, insistiu o porquinho.
The wolf took a deep breath and blew hard against the wooden shed, which shook violently and creaked under the force. Not satisfied, the wolf took a second, even deeper breath and blew again with all his strength.
This time, the shed came crashing down completely. The wolf walked in calmly and ate the second little pig, just as he had done with the first.
The third little pig, however, was a very different sort of character—serious, hardworking, and sensible. He had paid close attention to his mother’s advice before leaving home, and he was determined to do things properly. He walked a long way until he reached the banks of a small river, where he discovered plenty of solid rocks scattered along the shore.
Realizing these would make excellent building material, he spent the entire day carefully constructing a sturdy house made of stone, complete with a roof made from strong, thick branches and even a proper chimney. By the time evening arrived, the little pig was thoroughly exhausted from his hard work, but his house stood strong and secure. Just as he was preparing to rest, the wolf arrived at his door as well. He stood outside and called out, just as he had done before:
“Little pig, little pig, let me in!”
“Porquinho, porquinho, deixe-me entrar!”
“No,” said the third little pig calmly.
“Não”, disse o terceiro porquinho calmamente.
“If you don’t let me in, I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!”
“I won’t let you in,” the little pig replied, without a trace of fear.
The wolf took a deep breath and blew as hard as he could against the stone house. And what happened? Absolutely nothing. Not a single stone moved. Determined to succeed, the wolf took a second, even bigger breath and blew again with all his strength.
And what happened this time? Once again, nothing at all. Growing increasingly frustrated, the wolf filled his lungs with an enormous gulp of air and blew with every ounce of strength he had, until his face turned bright red from the effort. And what happened then? Absolutely nothing—the house didn’t budge even a single inch.
Furious and humiliated, the wolf stared at the house, searching for another way in, until his eyes landed on the chimney. “Ah-ha!” he thought to himself. “That’s how I’ll get inside.” Without wasting another moment, he climbed up onto the roof and began sliding down the chimney.
But the third little pig wasn’t only hardworking—he was also clever and well-prepared. Earlier that evening, he had put a large pot of soup on the fire to boil for his dinner. When he heard the wolf scrambling around on the roof, he quickly removed the lid from the pot.
Moments later, as the wolf came sliding down the chimney, he fell—splash!—straight into the boiling pot below. The little pig immediately clapped the lid back on, waited patiently until the wolf was thoroughly cooked, and then sat down to enjoy him for dinner.
